Core Five narrowly lose to WSP in the Plate Final of the St George 5-a-side Charity Tournament

Core Five’s budding football stars recently took part in the St George 5-a-side Charity Tournament, helping to raise £27,500 for St George’s nominated homeless charity SPEAR. St George, part of the Berkeley Group, specialise in high quality regeneration in London and have been long standing clients of several members of the practice. We are proud to be working with St George on a number of their schemes including the One Blackfriars Development.

After a difficult start in the group stages with a mere 2 draws and 2 losses, the Core Five team remained upbeat at the half way stages of the day with the prospect of progressing in the Plate competition. This proved a more fruitful winning ground, avenging an earlier draw in the group stages by beating the St. George C team 1-0, swiftly followed by a triumphant 4-0 semi-final victory over Outer Space Architects, and the team arrived at the hallowed turf of Pitch 3 to take on WSP in the Plate competition final. Whilst the team narrowly lost 1-0, possibly not helped by the vast amount of hog roast consumed at lunch and severe lack of match fitness, a fantastic day was had by all.

Thank you to St George for hosting and we look forward to being invited to participate in this tournament next year.
